I am happy to report that sweet Andy is doing great since his spinal surgery. He was very uncomfortable for the first couple of days and did not want to walk or get up at all. He is more comfortable now and will get up and move around very gingerly. We want him to get a little exercise to keep his legs from atrophying, but he is on restricted exercise with lots of cage rest. He can use the bathroom without any problems which is wonderful given the type of surgery he had.
This little bundle of joy is the sweetest pup you will ever meet. All he wants to do is curl up in your lap and take a long nap with constant loving. A lot of animals that are hit by cars are very scared for months afterward and do not want to go even outside or be in open areas. Andy is a little bit nervous when he goes outside but soon relaxes when he realizes we are there to make sure nothing happens. When dogs are hit from out of know where by a car, they start to think it is going to happen again. This happens when they are so violently struck by something they did not see coming. It takes them a while to get over that feeling of being helpless. They are fearful of going outside and being exposed because they think it will happen again.
Andy will be on restricted exercise for the next month. He can have passive motion rehab during this time but no more than that. Our sweet boy had four hours of extensive surgery to repair his back, and we want to make sure he has the best possible outcome.
We have only received a small amount of Donations for Andy and have not even come up with enough to cover half of his surgery. Please, Donate whatever you can and forward to your Beagle loving Friends to give them a chance to help us with his Medical bills. Thanks for caring and making his Journey to Walk again, possible.
