Our sweet boy is making wonderful progress. He has started getting up with assistance and is using his legs. The leg that has the worst wound is the one that also has ligament and bone damage. Nothing can be done as long as he still has such a large wound that is still healing. Any plates or screws that would be needed to repair his leg would introduce an object that would potentially get infected. His leg wound has to have healed before we can do any surgery in that area. He is still cupping under his front paw, but that has also improved. It is now just a matter of healing his wounds and doing constant rehab to regenerate what nerves were damaged and to rebuild the muscle loss from the injury.
Bacchus is one of the nicest dogs you will ever meet. He has a smile on his face every time he sees you. He lets the Vets and Techs do all of their rehab and wound changing without a peep. His sweetness makes everyone want to be even more gentle with him, just in case he is in pain but not vocalizing it. Bacchus has a long way to go before he can go into a home because of his constant wound care. He probably still has another month before we can even consider repairing his ankle. The swelling in his spine and neck area has gone down but still has a long way to go before we can determine if his injuries are going to require surgery. Bacchus has a lot going on but can use the bathroom outside with a harness and assistance which is wonderful progress.
We are way behind on donations for this wonderful boy and still have at least two more months to go of medical care. Please, don't stop helping us now, since we are at the beginning of his medical care. Thanks for caring about Bacchus and all our other amazing pups. We greatly appreciate your generosity.
