I am happy to report that the wounds on Bacchus's legs are healing beautifully. The worst one has started to granulate in, and his bandages should be off by the end of this week. That is huge for this big boy. He has had to have bandage changes every day, several times a day. He is the sweetest boy and just lays there while you do it. For the first three weeks, the process was very painful but he tolerated it and did not give anyone the slightest problem. Now, he lays there and acts like he is getting a massage instead of a bandage change. The process is quite extensive since the wound has to be cleaned each time to make sure the tissue keeps granulating without any new infections.
Bacchus is finally beginning to use his rear leg after extensive rehab. His foot is still cupping under but should improve over time. We have him going to Dr. King this week for a thorough Neurological follow-up to make sure his injuries are healing in his spinal column, and the swelling is going down. Sweet Bacchus has come so far but still has a lot of rehab to go before he can be placed in a loving home.
We are still looking for that special home for wonderful Bacchus. Since we have had him, he has not shown any interest in other dogs other than wagging his tail. He is not allowed to interact directly at this time since his spine is still healing. What we can tell you is that he is a total Lovebug and acts like he is a big puppy. All he wants to do is be in your lap curled up with the most endearing smile you have ever seen. Please, fill out our Adoption Application online if you think your heart is big enough for all the love this big boy has to shower you with.
We greatly appreciate all the help with Bacchus. His bills are quite extensive because of his daily wound care and extensive Rehab. We are still taking donations for his medical bills. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
