SAVANNAH, GA.......Sweet Bella Rose is a beautiful pure breed Boxer that is seven years old. She was brought to the ER in Savannah, GA and was diagnosed with a Pyometra, which is an infected Uterus. It is found in female dogs that have not been spayed. She was Critical and felt awful. The Owners could not afford her Emergency Surgery and decided to Euthanize her. The ER Techs asked if they would sign her over to a Rescue if one was found. We all know who got the next phone call. I offered to take her into our Medical Program if they would transfer her to CVRC in Charleston, SC. She was on fluids all day to get her stable before she was transferred.
This was one sick pup. Her uterus was terribly infected and swollen with infected fluid. The infection can kill a dog quickly if it is not caught in time. Bella Rose was at that point where it was now or never. She was stabilized and scheduled for surgery.
This sweet dog was an unaltered seven-year-old female that was covered with fleas. I was considering allowing the Family to have her back until I heard she was covered in fleas. There is no excuse for an animal to have fleas with all of the inexpensive flea prevention products out there. That is Basic Care right up there with food, water, and shelter.
The Surgeon said she had one of the largest infected Uterus she had seen in a long time. I can't even imagine how horrible she felt with her insides swelling from the uterus getting bigger and bigger as the infection got worse. Bella Rose came out of Surgery fine but is still not feeling great. Cultures from the Uterus were sent off so we can determine which antibiotic is best to treat her with. She is one lucky pup. If a few more days had passed, I don't believe we could have saved her.
Bella Rose loves everyone. She is going to make someone very happy with her sweet disposition. She will have to remain in the hospital while she recovers from the infection and the surgery but then can be placed in a great home. If you think she would be perfect for your Family, please fill out her Adoption Application.
Please, Donate whatever you can so we can pay her bills before she leaves the hospital. We have so many animals in different hospitals that the bills add up fast. We have worked had to remain in good-standing with every Hospital we use. My Amex Card guarantees every animal we take in, but those eventually have to be paid. Thanks for caring and making her Journey to Survive possible.
