I am so happy to report that Bella Rose is doing well. She had four rough days because her core body temperature was so low. Today was the first day it has come into the normal range. She is closely monitored to make sure she has not developed a fever from the massive infection she had. It will take about a month to rid her body of the infection and the trauma caused by the Pyometra.
Bella Rose is a beautiful, shy Boxer. She is alive today because the ER Clinic searched high and low to find a Rescue or Home for her. After reaching out to all of the Boxer Rescues, no one was willing to take on the high medical costs of saving this beautiful pup. It wasn't like they had weeks to do this, she was extremely sick and was going to have to be Euthanized before her Uterus burst. She was a ticking time bomb. We were the last resort for Bella Rose.
We have all of the forms that clearly state the Family wanted her to be EUTHANIZED. The next form they signed was to sign over all rights to Bella Rose and that the ER Clinic would take over her care and any expenses. That form was signed because the Vets wanted to save her. The Clinic could have put her to sleep at any time but chose to keep her stable at their expense while a Rescue was found. The Savannah Veterinary Emergency Clinic saved her Life by not giving up. Once we said we would take her, they made arrangements to get her to the best place for her surgery in Charleston. We then took over all of her care to make sure she had the best possible Surgeon and Critical Care Specialists to deal with the terrible infection she had.
I feel for the Family, but Bella Rose is alive today because other people fought for her. If her Family had spayed her, she would not have Pyometra. She will not be going back to the Family that gave her up. She will be ADOPTED by an amazing Family in Atlanta that has worked with us before. They got to meet her today, and it was love at first sight. She will be with us for another week while she is recovering and then can go to her new home. We are very excited for this beautiful dog. She is alive, and that is a Miracle.
