Sweet Bengal is having a terrible time because she is not strong enough to have major surgery at this time.   We got her stable enough to be transported to CVRC in Charleston, SC where they have a Critical Care Specialists, Dr. Kristin Welch.  When her white blood count kept rising, we knew she was becoming septic and needed someone that could get her through this.    We apologize for the graphic picture, but there is no way to show how serious this sweet dog is without showing you what has happened to her.  

The best we can determine is that someone tried to kill her with a rifle. The bullet hit her leg and took out a large chunk of bone and a big portion of the lower leg.  It left her foot dangling because she no longer had bones that were connected to the foot.    Over the course of weeks, she lost a lot of blood, and her foot and leg became terribly infected.    The injury by itself would have caused unbelievable pain.   On top of that, add the pain from the infection that is now going up the leg and you have pain that is beyond anything you could ever imagine. The other issue is that her radial nerve was damaged, and that adds another component that is neurological.  The nerve gets a tingling feeling that makes the animal want to chew off their leg.

This sweet dog has been tortured non-stop since someone did this to her.    The fact people kept seeing Bengal and no one stopped to help her is beyond comprehension.   I know, I keep saying that but it is still something I cannot wrap my head around.   How do you sleep at night knowing an animal is outside suffering.  How do you drive by the same abused dog day after day and DO NOTHING?   Bengal's initial abuse was bad enough, but she is in the shape she is in because no one wanted to help her.    The rest of her abuse was inflicted by all the people that passed her by and did NOTHING to ease her pain and suffering.   There is no excuse for this inhumane treatment.  

So many people have their head in the sand and refuse to look at what is happening in our Country when it comes to Animals.   The Abuse will probably never stop.   There are always going to be bad people that enjoy torturing animals.   What we do have control over is what WE do when we see an abused animal.    If you are unwilling to pick the animal up yourself and get them to a hospital, then call the Authorities to come and get the animal.    Only then, will the suffering stop.   DO NOT leave an injured animal alone to SUFFER.   That is inhumane, and YOU become part of the Problem instead of part of the Solution.   If the animal is hurt and wants to bite, wait with them at a safe distance until the authorities get there.    Just don't leave them there to SUFFER.   You may not be able to save them, but you could be the last kind face they see before they pass.

We have only received a few Donations for dear Bengal.  I don't know if people are waiting for her to die or what.  I do know that she is in Critical Care, and we are not going to give up on her.   This sweet dog should have died a long time ago.  I guarantee you this, I would have given up a long time ago and not hung around dealing with the kind of pain she has endured.   She is fighting to be here, and we are going to fight with her.   Please, DONATE whatever you can so we can give her the Medical Care that she desperately needs to survive.  Bengal is a young dog that has a long Life ahead.  She needs a chance to survive this and we are going to give her that chance.  PLEASE, Donate toward her Medical Bills.
