Our sweet girl is feeling pretty good this morning. Her values are still up and are in the Low Normal range. That is fine for doing surgery since she was taken off all of her supplemental medicine to make sure she can maintain that level. If her values drop after surgery, she will go back on supplemental care. Let's keep our fingers crossed that during the morning and early afternoon her values remain stable. If anything drastic happens, surgery will be delayed again. The leg has to come off because of the infection, but it has to come off when her body can take over the healing process. The surgery itself is not as drastic as you would expect as far as healing goes. No bone is being cut, and the entire scapula along with the leg will be removed.
Bengal is ready to move forward with her Life, and we are ready to make that happen. She will still be on heavy pain meds until her body adapts, but that should only be for a couple of days. Animals do great as Tri-Pods. Let's not forget that Bengal had been on three legs for the two weeks prior to us rescuing her. The leg that was shot and infected was a non-functioning leg. She was carrying around an infected, broken leg that caused her nothing but suffering.
Bengal will not be out of surgery until late this evening. As soon as she is stable and out of Recovery, I will post an update later tonight. Thanks for caring and making her Journey possible.
