I am happy to report that sweet Benny is gaining weight, and his mouth and leg are doing wonderfully. Benny has been living with a wonderful Foster to build up his confidence and make sure he is nurtured and loved during his Recovery. Daily mouth flushes and teeth brushing is part of that protocol to keep his incisions free of food that would cause his wounds to become infected.
When we first got Benny, he was a mess. His jaw was broken in several places, and he had a hole in the roof of his mouth where pockets of old food had collected. He was skin and bones, and he was also dealing hip fracture and needed an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy). Benny required a week of non-stop surgeries to put this sweet boy back together. A special Retainer was made to support his broken jaw since his jaw was too unstable to plate or put screws in. The retainer was sewn in temporarily until the jaw healed. Bennie was first fed with a feeding tube, then syringe fed and now can eat regular soft food by himself. His hip is healing beautifully and can go outside and go for short walks without any medical issues.
Benny's final consultation is this coming week. Once he is cleared, and the Retainer is removed he can go to his new Forever Home that has been waiting patiently to bring this sweet boy to their Home. Thanks for caring and making his Journey to recover from the horrible abuse he endured possible.
We are still taking Donations to pay off Benny's final bills before he is placed in a loving home. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. We have done a lot of dental surgery but never one that was as complicated as Benny's. His Dental procedure was more expensive than his FHO surgery which was in the thousands. Please, help us with this final bill.
