BETTY

I am happy to say that sweet Betty has decided to rejoin the human race.  She played with a toy for the first time yesterday briefly.  I tried to upload the video but it was way too big.  We will do another one the next time she shows off for us.  People seem to think Betty isn't getting enough human contact.  That is far from the truth.  She is with someone all the time when she is done with her naps.  Betty has been eating since we got her.  We have finally gotten her to drink some liquids which is what the main problem was.  We have discontinued her IV fluids but have kept her IV line in, which is what the wrap is on her leg.  Betty has gotten a lot more vocal over the last 24 hours.  She has a voice like a sick Frog.  When we are not paying attention to her, she does this Frog bark that has us all in stitches.  She is now demanding all the attention she can get.  Betty still has to improve a lot before we can remove the mass on her back and the mammary gland tumors.  We will not know if they are malignant or benign until after the surgery has been done and the biopsies sent off.  Whatever happens, we will decide at the time the best course of action for this incredible dog.  We treat a lot of older dogs with cancer and have wonderful results if we get it in time.  The good news is that the cat scan we did in the beginning did not show she had any tumors or cysts in her abdomen or lungs.  That tells us that if she does have cancer, it has not spread.  Betty still has a long way to go but the fact she is being vocal and is interacting speaks volumes for how she is feeling.  Keep the prayers coming.
