DeKalb, GA……..Animal Control was called out to pick up a very sick dog that had collapsed in someone's yard.   What they discovered when they arrived is a dog that barely was alive and could not even walk.   Billy is an American Bulldog that is approximately 4 years old and is in Renal Failure.   He was rushed to an ER facility last night where they worked all night long to save him.  This morning he is a little more stable compared to last night but stable he is not.    All of his values are in and his kidneys have shut down.  Whatever it is that caused him to become so ill happened quickly.  The doctors suspect he was given ANTI-FREEZE.    On top of all he is dealing with, he is emaciated.   The poisoning has gotten so bad that both sides of his tongue have become necrotic and died.    I have Specialist from all over the Country working on saving him.   Right now, we are doing everything possible to stabilize him so we can get him to a hospital that has a Dialysis machine.   Since we do not know exactly what has sent him into Renal Failure, we are also running lots of tests to determine if he has an infectious disease such as Leptospirosis.   We are looking at every possibility for his condition and right now the top of the list is Anti-Freeze poisoning.    

Billy's condition changes minute to minute.   He is getting round the clock Critical Care to make sure he is comfortable and that everything humanly possible is done.  Right now, we need lots and lots of prayers for this sweet, sweet dog.   The pain he has endured is unimaginable based on how he looks now.  He has suffered terribly with this.    I am so glad we stepped up for him.  He would have died alone and suffered in the shelter.    I feel terrible for this wonderful dog.    All indications are that he is a young adult dog based on the doctor's report.   If he was older, we would have had to let him go.  Right now he is fighting the best he can to be here.   He has to be a very strong willed boy to have survived this long and still be alive.  He must have known we were coming for him   

Please, do whatever you can to help us save him.   He is getting the most expensive round the clock care money can buy to save his life.   We spare nothing when it comes to saving an animal.   Each one deserves the best care possible and unconditional love.  Right now, he is getting both.
