FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA..... We have had a rough couple of months with the terrible cases we have had. Then having one of our special pups come down with cancer right when the perfect home comes along makes us question why we do this. You then open your eyes for one more day and are face to face with the saddest Dog you have ever experienced, and you know why you do this. To stop the suffering, this poor girl has endured for most of her Life. To give them HOPE that the World is not all bad. To shower them with so much Love they will not give up and choose to LIVE one more day. To convince a helpless animal that has no Hope and no Faith in Humanity that she is finally SAFE. That is why we choose to open our eyes for one more day and see the abuse and walk toward the animal, instead of away.
Sweet Butterscotch is barely alive. Her Soul left her a long time ago when someone abandoned her in a building with no way of eating or drinking. Her medical condition alone was enough to kill her, but no food or water made her suffering on a scale, I cannot even imagine. This precious Angel is so sick that we do not have a clue how old she is. Her age could be anywhere from one to four years old. Only time, if she survives will give us our answer. Butterscotch was found when a man went out to look at a property he was interested in buying. Imagine his horror when he found Butterscotch. She acted as if she was a wild caged animal that never had been around a human or another animal. God only know what horrors she has had to endure. We had Butterscotch immediately brought to our wonderful Vet, Dr. Angela Holcomb in Savannah, GA late last night. It will take us several days to figure out her medical condition. Below the swollen bleeding skin, she is skin and bones. Her skin scrape showed she has Demodex and Sarcoptic Mange. Her entire body is terribly infected with weeping bloody sores all over. Right now, we are getting her settled down and as comfortable as possible. She is safe, and that is all that matters.
She reminds us all of dear Gypsy when we rescued her almost five years ago. She looked a lot like Butterscotch and was just as scared and wild. It took us years to get her well, but we did. She now lives in Washington State and has the most amazing Life. If Butterscotch survives and learns to trust us, we will do everything in our power and beyond to make her whole again. A Criminal Investigation has begun to find the person that did this horrible act of Cruelty to Butterscotch. We will post as soon we get more information.
