I am happy to report that sweet Cecily is doing great since her surgery. It took her a little while to adjust to the apparatus that is attached to her leg, but she soon realized that she could walk around it. We have posted a video of her walking with it to ease everyone's mind. Cecily is doing so well that she seems to forget that it is there when she tries to take off and run. Walking she can manage, but running is not allowed no matter how good she feels. The Surgeons are feeling very optimistic about her prognosis based on the way she has been able to get around. She developed a training tract that we cultured and are treating with antibiotics. The tract came from the leg that had the bone protruding. The bone is no long there, but infection had already developed because of the open area. This morning her site has a lot less draining. Additional radiographs will be done in two weeks to see how well the bones on fusing together. Based on how she is walking, we are expecting the x-rays to look great.
Cecily is going to have the fixators for another six weeks if all goes well. She will be available to go to a new home after they are removed. If you want an amazing little dog that is loving and sweet, she is it. Everything about Cecily is sugary sweet. We all adore her and are so surprised no one has put in an application. Because Cecily is young, we are expecting her to have a full recovery. Six months down the road, her injuries will be a distant memory. Please, consider adding this wonderful pup to your home. She loves every dog and ignores the cats she has been around. She will make the best companion that will be by your side always. Her favorite thing to do is lean on you for a hug or a pat on the head. Every gesture is so enduring that it is hard for us to believe someone allowed this to happen to this wonderful pup. Fill out our Adoption Application to be considered. We do take out of state applications so don't let that prevent you from welcoming this wonderful girl into your Home.
We have not even come close to getting the donations we need to cover Cecily's surgeries and her Rehab. Please, consider donating toward her care so her expenses do not break us. She has a long recovery and will have to remain in the hospital during this time. Hospitals are expensive when the animals are there for long two month stays. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for caring and being part of her long Journey to Walk again.
