Sweet Domino has the patience of a Saint and the temperament of an Angel. He has to endure wound management each day which includes procedures to remove all dead tissue that is harboring bacteria. The procedures are painful and uncomfortable. Domino allows all of the Specialists and Vet Techs to work on him without even a whimper. He is on pain meds but scraping and pulling on infected tissue hurts. He is lightly sedated for some of the procedures but remains awake and happy for the balance of the cleaning. He is one of the happiest dogs and could care less his face is disfigured. He loves all of the attention, and his sweetness makes every Vet Tech want to spend extra time with him.
Domino's culture results are back, and it is not good. His wounds are growing three bacterias. The one we are most disturbed by is that he has MRSA which is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. He does not have MRSP which is the canine version but is the Human Version. The good news is that the Antibiotic he is on will take care of all three bacterias. Unfortunately, you have to be fully suited and gloved to spend time with him because of the MRSA. The infection is not stopping the Vet Techs from spoiling him rotten. He gets so excited to see anyone coming toward his special area that he wiggles and jumps and puts on his Happy Dance until you come and get him. Everyone loves this amazing dog that never gave up or gave in to his abuse.
Domino's facial wounds are so bad that there is not enough tissue left to close the wounds. The infections he has are preventing any further surgery to repair the damaged skin. Debriding the dead skin is his only hope of ever having healthy tissue in those areas. He has lost too much skin to pull any areas together. The best we can hope for is we get the infection under control, so it does not do any further damage to the tissue that is remaining. Domino has an incredible Team of Specialists that are doing everything possible to get this sweet dog well.
Domino still has a long Journey ahead because of the MRSA infection plus he has been in ICU since he arrived with us. Please, Donate toward his Medical bills so we can continue giving him the best medical Care possible. Thanks for caring and making his journey to Survive and Thrive, possible. We greatly appreciate your Love and Support.
