FIONA Update......I am very happy to report that sweet Fiona's front legs are healing beautifully. She is still doing rehab every day with our Rehab Specialists to make sure she is getting as much flexibility as possible considering the kind of surgery she had. Her front legs are never going to be like a normal dog, but they are working and functioning so she can walk around upright and play.
The problem she is having now is a side-effect of her having walked on her elbows for so long. She has luxated both of her rear legs so badly that they are now a Grade 4. She has to have surgery to repair both of the knees to keep them from coming out when she walks. This adorable little pup takes everything in stride. She is happy to be walking upright and never complains when her knees luxate. She cannot continue this way, or her rear legs will be similar to her original front legs. We are scheduling surgery for her this week to repair the damage that has been done. Fiona will still be doing lots, and lots of rehab to keep the front legs limber and to allow the rear legs to heal.
Based on all the surgery sweet Fiona has had, we have decided it would be best for her if she were adopted close to the area where her Orthopedic Surgeons are. Fiona is still a puppy that is growing. We need to make adjustments as she grows to allow her body to adapt to the changes that were made. Because of her young age and all of her procedures, she will need to be adopted near the Columbia, SC area. We are now taking Online Applications for her.
Thanks for caring and being part of her long Journey to heal and walk. We greatly appreciate your support and love for our animals.
