A lot of people wanted us to put this sweet dog down. I understand where everyone is coming from and very much respect everyone's opinion. For those of you that are new to what we do at Noah's Arks Rescue, we do not put a dog down unless we feel his QUALITY of life will not improve no matter what we do. The reason why we have waited before doing any major surgery on sweet Fowler is because we wanted to see how he responded to the care he was getting right now. I am happy to say, this wonderful little boy is coming around and enjoying all the love and care he is receiving. He has a long list of ailments. Each one on their own will not kill him. All together is a totally different story. This little guy has an entire Team of Specialists working on his case. Literally, no stone has been left unturned. The tumors can wait to be addressed once we have his immediate problems under control. Fowler has terrible ear infections that are causing him to have lots of discomfort and pain. All antibiotics have been changed to address his ear problems right now and to address the Kennel Cough he has. He has been sick for quite a long time and the infections have gone into his lungs. He is already responding to the antibiotics and is a lot more comfortable because of them. He is finally able to get some much needed rest. Resting is going to allow the rest of his body to begin the healing process and settle his Nervous System and Adrenals down. We have done a scan of his entire body. We found another tumor on his spleen which can also wait. These are small areas that are not our top concern right now. His heart is in good shape for a dog his age. There will not be any surgery on him until next week when we feel his lungs and ears have improved. He will remain in Intensive Care for as long as it takes to get him through this ordeal. The best news of all is that our Little Man is a fighter. He has had every opportunity to give up and die. We are not keeping him alive. We are giving him supportive care to treat his medical issues and allow his body to heal. As one area heals and he gets stronger, we can then move on to the next most critical area of concern. I was prepared to let our Little Man go but was really shocked when he rallied and let us know he wanted to be here. He is finally getting comfortable letting people hold him and love on him. His ears were the main reason he wanted no Human contact. He can't hear or see but can feel pain and his ears were excruciatingly painful. That is improving every day.
We realize it is a risk to donate toward an animal where his chances are not good. That is the case with every animal we take in. Fowler will be with us for a long time in ICU. Any help with his medical bills is greatly appreciated. Even if we don't get a penny, I still make sure each animal I take in gets all their medical needs met with the best Doctor's & Surgeons. Animals that don't get funding, get the same incredible care as the ones that do get funding. It just means we can't help as many animals because i will be personally paying a lot for them. Don't count our Little Man Fowler out. He deserves the same opportunity as all our other animals and we are going to make sure he gets it. He still needs lots and lots of prayers and love sent his way.
