GUINNESS

Sweet Guinness has certainly had a time of it.   He has been on strict exercise and is not allowed to do stairs of any kind.   We got a call from the Surgeon that saw him for his follow-up appointment, and she noticed he was limping a little bit.  That would normally be standard for the surgery he had.  She wanted to do an x-ray and was shocked to see his metal plate had broken completely in two.

Talk about being upset well that is an understatement.  We just could not believe what we were seeing.   Guinness did not show any signs of damage to the leg.   Apparently, his weight along was enough to cause the plate to crack in two.  We hear about this happening to big dogs, but we have never had this happen before, and we have plated a lot of big dogs.   Guinness had to go back to the hospital and have more surgery only, this time; the surgery was going to be even more complicated.  The old plate had to be removed, and a new plate had to be put in.  Guinness was in surgery for almost four hours.  It was a long, complicated procedure that wore everyone out that was involved.

Guinness is recovering from his second procedure and is not allowed to do anything but go outside briefly with a sling on.   We are not taking any chances of this happening again.  The Surgeon says it was a fluke, but we are not taking any chances.   Guinness's first procedure was over $4000. and this one is right under that.  This is a procedure we were not prepared for.  The first one we raised funds for but still did not get all we needed.   This surgery has set us back tremendously.

Please, Donate whatever you can.  We have new dogs coming in weekly, and we have to stay on top of these bills.  Once we start getting behind, it is almost impossible to catch up.  When that happens, we have no choice but to stop taking animals in until all the bills are PAID.  We hate being in this position because we are the Last Resort for most of the animals we take care of.   It is either us or they are PTS.  Please, Donate whatever you can.  Thanks for caring and making what we do possible.
