FAYETTEVILLE, NC.....Sweet GUS is a 10 month old beautiful, sweet Border Collie Mix that was picked up as a stray by Cumberland County Animal Control.  He had an embedded collar that appears to have been on him since he was a little pup.  This wonderful dog is still only a pup that wants to do nothing but play and give kisses to everyone he meets.  It appears Gus had been in this condition for a long time because he had a terrible infection that had started to eat away at all of the surrounding tissue where the collar had cut into his skin.  We don’t know how he managed to get free of the person that did this to him but are so glad he did.  He would not have survived much longer in the condition he was in.  Eventually dogs with embedded collars get terrible infections that take over their entire bodies and they become septic.  When I tell you that Gus is sweet, that is only a partial truth because he does not have one mean bone in his body.  He does not even realize he has been abused.  He is the happiest boy we have seen in a long time in this condition.  Gus will have a full recovery and will only have a small scar from the embedded collar.  He will be up for adoption as soon as the infection is under control and his neck injury has begun to scar over.  If you are interested in this sweet boy, please fill out our Adoption Application as soon as possible.

Gus is healing beautifully and loving all of the special attention he is getting.  The person that adopts this sweet boy is going to get the best little companion.  He is so sweet and playful.  We adore this incredible dog.
