Hampton was brought into the Greenville County Animal Control after being attacked by a large dog. He is a one year old male chihuahua mix. At first they thought his lungs were punctured but that turned out to not be the case. Because he has so many puncture wounds and broken ribs air is getting under his skin and when he breathes it escapes which gives the impression his lungs are punctured. That is the only good news with this sweet dog. He has been at the vet since the day this happened with 24 hour care. He is on a morphine drip for the pain, fluids and a ton of antibiotics. He has had a rough two days. We are hopeful he will turn around over the next couple of days. This is one sweet dog. With the pain he has had he has not tried to bite anyone at any time and he has been worked on a lot to clean the wounds. We did not send this around earlier because we weren’t sure he was going to make it. We feel better about his prognosis today. He is at North Greenville Vet Hospital.

Hampton unfortunately will have to have surgery tomorow. One of his broken ribs has punctured his lung and air is leaking out. He will have the surgery at North Greenville Vet. Hospital tomorrow. We just hate this for this sweet dog. He has really had a hard time recovering for this accident. We are having to raise his chip-in to cover his surgery tomorrow. Say some prayers for this little angel. He needs them.

Hampton had surgery today and what we thought was a punctured lung turned out to be a punctured abdomen. The next 24 hours are going to be critical for him. He is still in incredible pain and has lots of swelling. We will post more tomorrow on him. He needs lots of prayers right now.

This sweet pup has finally rounded a corner and is doing better. He is still in a lot of pain but atleast we are able to take him off his IV. The other good news is that we have found a wonderful new home for Hampton. If he keeps progressing the way he is he will be with his new Guardians this week. Thanks for all the prayers. They are working for this sweet, sweet boy.

Hampton is with his new family and is doing wonderful. It’s amazing how an animal that was so sick can do so well with proper medical care and lots and lots of love. Way to go HAMPTON. We sure thought we were going to lose you.
