GREENVILLE, SC......Jones is an adorable 8 week old kitten that was brought into the shelter because of a head and eye injury. A family found the kitten when he was only two weeks old. His eye was like this when they found him. They nursed him back to health as much as they could but the eye kept getting worse so they brought him to the shelter. This tiny little kitten barely weights a pound. He has a large gash on his head and his eye below the gash has been damaged. There is a abscess on the eye that cannot be repaired and the eye will have to be removed. Sweet little Jones was too small, delicate and weak to have the surgery done when he arrived. We have had him for four weeks to build him up and get him healthy enough to have the surgery. The eye builds up fluid in a pocket and has to be drained every day. The problem we are having is keeping him from getting an infection from having to drain the eye all the time. Jones is now healthy enough for us to have his eye removed. He is a really sweet, adorable kitten that will do fine with only one eye. The eye we are removing has not been functional since he was several weeks old. He is already used to being blind in one eye. This little kitten is lucky to be alive. We do not have a clue what happened to him. He could have crawled under the hood of a car and got caught in a fan belt or someone could have done this. We thought he wasn’t going to make it on several occasions and are so glad he has. He will make a wonderful member of the family for some lucky person.
Jones is finally on the mend. He is so cute, adorable, sweet and loving. He has had his eye removed and is doing wonderful. He was already used to being blind in one eye way before we did the surgery. We just had to wait until he put some weight on before we stressed his system out by doing any surgery. He is purring all the time and loves rubbing up next to you. Jones will be going to a foster home until we think he is ready to be placed. Thanks for caring and helping us with this sweet kitten.
