Our sweet little Lamb Chop had a long day yesterday with her surgery. I am happy to report that the shunt was put in without any issues and has been programmed to slowly remove the fluid on her brain. Because she has had the hydrocephalus for so long, it will take approximately two years to drain the fluid in a manner that will enable her brain tissue to go back to normal. Too quickly and we risk further damage that cannot be altered. I am happy to report that since we did the procedure, her tremors have improved. She was able to hold her head up for the first time since we have had her. I have posted a video of Dr. King putting her in a standing position. That was not something we could ever do before. She could not hold the position but was able to be put in it. As soon as her incision has healed, we can begin physical therapy to get back the muscle atrophy that she has. We are all very hopeful for this amazing little pup. She is finally on a path that we feel will eventually give her back her ability to walk.
Thanks for caring enough about this adorable little puppy to support our efforts and decisions. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.
