Adorable Lamb Chop is wonderful. This last week she has made tiny little steps toward walking again. She is a little like the watched pot that never boils. We are all watching and picking her up so often to see if she can walk that she probably thinks we are all crazy. I think when we quit trying to will her to walk she will get up and walk. She is moving so much better with a small amount of assistance. The surgeon feels it is just a matter of time. The programmer for her device came by to check on her yesterday to see if any changes needed to be made in the amount of fluid that was being removed daily. They decided the amount coming off was perfect given she was making small improvements each day. If there were no change, the device would have been programmed to remove more fluid. We decided to take the safe route and remove the fluid very slowly, so her brain tissue has a chance to repair itself in the process. For the next two years, fluid will be draining from her brain.
Lamb Chop is now beginning to act just like a regular puppy. She is playful and wants to chew on everything in sight. We have a lot of toys for her that have had to be removed before she tears them all up. We have started Physical Therapy on her legs to build up her muscles that are not used to walking. Lamb Chop is a different puppy from the one we originally rescued. She is now getting her coordination back and is not as shaky. It is just a matter of time before she gets up on her own and walks. I am happy to report that her prognosis is EXCELLENT. Thanks for caring and being part of her amazing Journey to WALK.
