Lamb Chop

We have a lot to report since our last update with Sweet Lamb Chop. For starters, she went to the Rehab Facility and for some reason spiked a fever the very next day and had to be brought back to Critical Care in Charleston.   Our biggest fear was that her shunt had gotten infected, or the fluid draining into her abdomen was infected. Her Neurologist chose to put her on an antibiotic and fluid to get the fever down.  After several days, she was back to her normal adorable self.   We chose to not sedate her to get a fluid sample unless her fever did not break.  There was too great a risk of giving her an infection if we had to do that so we opted to wait it out, and luckily her fever went away.   We never figured out what caused the fever but were glad when it subsided.

Sweet Lamb Chop is so used to everyone at CVRC in Charleston that we have decided to keep her there for her remaining rehab and any shunt adjustments.  Dr. King decided it was time to do a small adjustment with her shunt and had the programmer come in so he could do it while she was sedated.  The pressure was changed, so a larger amount of fluid was removed from her brain.  I have posted pictures of the shunt being adjusted with a magnet by the Specialist.

Our little Angel is so close to walking.  She only has to have a slight hand to keep her upright and the rest she is doing on her own.  She had one water treadmill session and will have another one in a week.  It tires her out too quickly to be doing it too often.   She has gotten to where she can do a full round of rehab to build up her strength.   We have lots of videos showing her doing rehab.

Since we are keeping Lamb Chop at the Critical Care Facility in Charleston, we are in desperate need of funds for her care.   Please, help us with her continued care.  She will be here until she is strong enough to walk on her own.  Only then, can she go to her new home.

Thanks for caring and being part of her Journey to Survive and to Thrive.
