Sweet Lily Beth has improved slightly but now we have another issue that we are having to deal with. She has had a large quantity of mucous in her sinuses since we first took her into our care. The Vets originally thought it was a side-effect of the respiratory problems she has been having. They now are having to rule out Distemper. Her pneumonia has improved but her sinuses are still draining and have to be suctioned a lot. The problem with doing a regular distemper test now is that she will probably be positive because of her vaccination for Distemper. Our Critical Care Specialist has ordered a special test that can determine if it she truly has distemper or if it is from her vaccination. Right now, she is acting like she has distemper.
Adorable Lily Beth cannot get a break. When she improves in one area, another area starts giving her problems. The best news is that she is in ICU where she is closely monitored for any signs of distress new and old. She has crossed a big hurdle by coming out of the Parvo but is still in danger of losing her Life. She is able to eat a small amount of food which is wonderful but not enough for us to remove the feeding tube. Yesterday when they went into isolation to check all of her vitals and give her some extra loving, she definitely had a bit of an attitude. Everyone was glad to see her little more spunky since she has been so lethargic. She does not have a fever which is also another big positive and shows us that her antibiotics are working. She is still a very sick puppy but one that we are remaining optimistic about. If she does have Distemper, she is in the right place to even have a chance at fighting it. Lily Beth will have to remain in ICU isolation until she is cleared of any infectious diseases. She is getting lots of TLC and everyone is pulling for her and showing her how much they love and adore this adorable little fighter. One look into those big beautiful eyes of hers and your heart is lost forever. Life is just not fare for such an innocent baby to be experiencing so much sickness.
Her bills are through the roof because of being in round the clock Intensive Care. As long as she keeps fighting, we will keep fighting for her. Any donation is greatly appreciated. She and Cookie are both in the same Critical Care Emergency Hospital. Thanks for caring and playing a big part in her Journey to Survive.
