I am happy to report that our dear little Miko is making wonderful progress. He has slowly started to put weight on and is not as skinny as he was in the beginning. The problem with animals that have so many medical problems is that all their calories are going toward healing. It takes a lot of food when you are playing catch-up all the time. Miko's skin is finally dry and most of the scabs have sloughed off. He still has to have daily baths to soothe and medicate his itchy skin. All of his bloodwork is improving. It is still not in the normal range but is very close. We have him on lots of holistic herbs to counteract the problem with his heart. He has not shown any new signs of distress, and his energy level has improved.
Miko's Foster, Margie works at the Hospital where he is being treated. He gets to take him home when she leaves and then takes him back when she returns. This way, Miko gets lots of TLC and gets to relax in a home environment. He still sleeps a lot but when he is awake, she gets to interact with other little pups for brief periods. We are constantly reminded by his Specialists that our little Angel will probably not have a long life based on the condition of his little heart. That is not stopping us from doing everything possible to give him the best Life possible. We see Miracles happen every day. He is going to be our little Miracle and prove everyone wrong. He wasn't supposed to have survived what he went through, but he did and has improved tremendously. I believe he is going to prove all the Specialists wrong and outlive everyone.
Miko still has constant Medical Bills. We need all the help we can get to get his bills down and to continue with his medical care. Thanks for caring and making his Journey to Survive possible.
