GREENVILLE, SC.......MILO is an incredibly sweet Boxer Mix that it appears was used as bait for a dog fight and then abandoned. He was picked up as a stray in this condition and taken to the Emergency Room. Given he did not belong to anyone, he was taken to Greenville County Animal Control. Greenville does everything they can to help all the dogs that come in daily and they get a lot. An abused dog that needs immediate medical care does not stand a chance when they have to put down healthy dogs all the time. We were Milo’s last resort. We had to get him out or he was going to be Put To Sleep so he did not suffer any longer. I don’t need to tell everyone how full we are. We are beyond full with all of the dogs that are still recovering from surgeries or are still doing rehab. My heart literally broke when I saw this sweet dog that was going to be PTS. There wasn’t anyone else that was going to help him. We were it. When I first got the phone call, I immediately said NO because we are so full but said to go ahead and send me the pics. When I got the pics, I was sad but still said NO. After 5 minutes, I knew I could not live with that decision and immediately called them back and said we would take him. I am so glad I did. He is one of those special dogs that steals your heart from the moment you look into his eyes. He has the most calm, sweet demeanor that would not hurt a fly. He is a lover not a fighter which is why he was abandoned. Based on the bite marks that are all over his face and neck, he has been used as a bait dog to train a fighter for a while. We are so lucky to have the chance to save this boy. He has lots of gashes on his neck that we are allowing to drain before they will be sewn up. He is emaciated and anemic. It will take a while for him to heal based on all of the medical issues he has. He will have all the time he needs. He is finally safe and no one will ever hurt this wonderful boy again.
MILO has had a terrible couple of years based on the scars he has on his body. He is so sweet and loving and likes everyone he meets. His tail is always wagging. His wounds have begun to heal and we did surgery on the gashes he had. He will be in the hospital for several more days until he has fully recovered from his surgery. He will be treated for heartworms once he is healthy enough for the treatment. Right now, he is loving all of the attention he is getting and showering everyone with lots of kisses and hugs. We will know more about Milo's true personality once he has completely healed and has been evaluated thoroughly. Thanks for caring about this sweet boy. He is a happy boy that is getting strong and healthy.
