This sweet adorable 8 week old kitten has had such a terrible life.  I can’t believe he is still hanging in there, but he is.  He was dropped off at the emergency clinic in Greenville, SC because something had happened to his eye.  His eye had to be removed.  The person that was supposed to be looking after him, left him unattended and he was attacked by their dog.   His jaw was crushed on one side and his tongue severely damaged.  We were contacted and had him taken to UVS.  He has been at UVS since last Friday.  They have done surgery on his jaw (as much as they could) and have inserted a feeding tube into his stomach so he can get nourishment.  Everyday this little guy gets a little bit better.  His tongue may never go back in his mouth all the way because of the damage.  If he wasn’t such a fighter, we would have put him down.  He may not be a perfect little guy but he is determined to make it.  We believe he will eventually get to where he will be able to eat and drink again on his own or we would have put him down.  As far as he is concerned this is just a normal day for him.

He is getting his mouth open a little bit.  His tongue has gone back into his mouth a little more. He can drink a small amount of water.  He makes a mess of it and gets water all over himself but he is making progress.  His feeding tube is connected to his stomach so he can get nourishment.  Our sweet boy is making progress.

Minx is doing wonderful.  He has started eating on his own and the feeding tube will be removed this week.  This is one happy kitten.  He can now use his tongue and it gets better each day.
