SALISBURY, NC.....Can you imagine being a small Beagle and being forced to carry around a bowling ball between your legs. Well, that is pretty much what dear Noelle has had to do for a very long time. She is a 12-year-old adorable Beagle that was picked up as a stray. Someone cared so little about her well-being they discarded her with this massive tumor. Based on the information we originally received, we thought this was a hernia based on the description as a fluid filled mass. Unfortunately, that appears not to be the case. The mass is very hard and is a definite Mast Cell Tumor. On top of everything else. Sweet Noelle is heartworm positive.
Noelle had her first visit with her Cardiology, Oncology, and Surgical Team yesterday to determine the best course of action. The mass must be removed before her cancer spreads. We also have to take extra precautions not to sedate her with a drug that would compromise her Life from heartworm die-off. On top of everything else, Noelle has ear and eye infections. She has a mixed bag of medical issues that each has to be addressed. The good news is that for such an older pup, she is in fairly good condition. I don't think she would be here today if she didn't have an incredible WILL to LIVE.
The surgeons are planning on removing the tumor on Thursday. That will give the Specialists time to come up with the safest plan to give Noelle the best possible outcome. Every surgery has risks, but this particular one is complicated by her heartworm status.
Once we remove the tumor, we think Noelle has a lot of great years left to live. She is happy all the time and loves everyone. If you are a Beagle lover, then you will love Noelle.
Donations are so low right now that we are not even raising the funds we need to pay the hospital bills. I come up with the balance when the costs are not met, but there is only so much I can do. We are already turning away abuse cases because we can't pay for the ones we have from Donations. I make sure each animal gets the best possible medical care. If they need something, they get it. It has been that way since I started Noah's Arks Rescue almost ten years ago. There is nothing worse than knowing you can help an abuse case but having to say NO because of lack of funds. Please, Donate toward Noelle and all the others whenever you can. If you can't, then forward to all of your Animal Loving Friends to give them the opportunity to help an animal in need. Noah's Arks Rescue is not possible without our Donors. We are funded by Donations only. We are Volunteers, and we give our ALL to every animal in need. Thanks for caring and making Noelle's Journey to Heal and find Love, possible.
