I have wonderful news that sweet Noelle did great during her surgery. We were worried about her under anesthesia with her age and her heartworm status, but she did great. The problem we are having now is that she is sick, sick, sick from her pain meds and cannot keep food down. We removed the Fentanyl Patch that normally works great for dogs after surgery and put her on IV pain meds and anti-nausea medication. We hate it when the pups have a hard time on the pain meds. The pain has to be under control so they can get comfortable and allow their body to heal.
Noelle had five growths removed at the time of surgery. The large one and some small ones including one on her eyelid. All have been sent out for biopsies. She is feeling a little bit better this morning and is not regurgitating as much as she was but is still a long way from normal. Noelle has to be able to keep food down. We are hoping all of her nausea is from the pain meds only. Tomorrow will give us a better idea if we are dealing with something totally unrelated. The biopsies will give us a good idea if we have clean margins.
Noelle's surgical site looks really bad because of all the growths that were removed. Several surgical sites have been joined which is why it looks so bad. Once they have healed, and her fur grows in, you will never know they were there. Once we get the biopsies back, we will then talk to the Oncologists to see what they recommend based on what the results show. After our sweet girl has fully recovered from her procedure, we will begin her heartworm treatment.
Noelle's bills are much higher than we expected due to her being in ICU. Please, donate toward her extended Medical Care. Thanks for caring and making her Journey to Heal, possible.
