This sweet, energetic 16 month old chocolate lab was saved from being PTS at the Elberton, GA shelter No one would step up for her because she had an old fracture that required surgery. She was immediately taken to Greenville, SC where she had surgery to repair her leg at Upstate Veterinary Specialist. Most old fractures cannot be repaired and the leg is usually amputated. We did not want that for this young pup and were willing to do whatever was needed to save her leg. After several hours of surgery they were able to repair the leg. She will now require several months of restricted exercise to build up her leg and then will be as good as new. She is a beautiful young lab dog that did not deserve to be dumped at the shelter to be PTS. Accidents happen and it is up the the pet guardians to make sure their loyal companions are taken care of.

This beautiful girl is doing wonderful and ready to be adopted. She has gone to a foster home where they are considering to adopt her if she gets along with their lab. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Nutmeg is in an incredible home and seems to be getting along with the other dog of the family and they are becoming great buddies. We think this will be her permanent home and are keeping our fingers crossed. They just adore our sweet Nutmeg.
