GREENVILLE, SC.....PACINO is an adorable eight week old Terrier Mix puppy we were contacted about last Friday.  He was given to someone at the shelter after what appeared to be a dog fight.  The information we got is that he was attacked by his Pitbull Dad.  We were also told his Mom is a Malamute.  This is a tiny little puppy and there is no way this little one came from a Pitbull or a Malamute.  He appears to be a Jack Russel mix.  We do know he was bit by something large because a tooth went all the way through his sinus cavity and snapped his jaw right below that. You can see a bone sticking through his jaw in the above picture.  It also messed up his TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) which is completely out.  We either had to take him immediately or he was going to be put to sleep because of his injury.   Pacino was terribly sick and in a lot of pain when we got him.  He could not go straight into surgery because he had a terrible contagious upper respiratory infection.  This puppy was sick way before he was attacked.  He spent the week-end at the vet recovering from his infection on antibiotics and pain meds.  He was transferred to the surgical facility today where he had jaw surgery.  They were able to repair his broken jaw but his TMJ went out of place about an hour after surgery.  He will have another procedure tomorrow to try and stabilize that area.  The TMJ is basically the hinge of the mouth.  Any injury to that area is hard to repair and terribly painful.  We will do whatever we have to do to get him comfortable and functional.  It will take several procedures because he is still growing.  Cute cannot even begin to describe this adorable little puppy.  We will have him with us for about four weeks while he is getting well and then he will be ready to be adopted to a lucky family.

PACINO is doing wonderful since his surgery.  This is one adorable little puppy.
