Remi

Latest Updates

This sweet, two year old lab was picked up by Animal Control in Greeville, SC after being spotted on a trail by a school with blood gushing out of his back.  The authorities thought he had been shot.  Remi was in unbelievable pain and was not able to use his rear left leg.  The shelter gave him some pain medicine and antibiotics but his time was going to be brief if no one stepped up for him.  We grabbed him the day after the accident and had him taken to out vet.  He was evaluated, x-rayed and scanned.  We later determined that he had been stabbed, not shot.  He has since been transferred to a surgical facility where he is being treated.  He had surgery to repair the injury on his back and we are still trying to determine what is causing him to lose the use of his rear leg.  Based on the pain he has and the discomfort surrounding his leg, we think he was held by his leg and has an injury similar to when an animal gets his leg caught in a trap.  The animal does a lot of damage to the nerve and ligaments in those areas trying to free themselves.  We will never know what happened to this sweet boy.  He will be at the surgical facility undergoing more tests and being thoroughly evaluated until we find out the cause of his leg injury.  The tests do not show where a ligament had been cut but the force of the impact could have caused him to have a disk that is bulging on a nerve.  He is getting wonderful Veterinary care while we are keeping him comfortable and pain free.

Remi is still at the surgical facility and will be there into next week.  He seems to be doing better and is not as painful as he was when he arrived.  We are hoping that whatever is going on with his leg will settle down and enable him to use his leg again.  Right now, he is not using the leg at all.  He is a beautiful dog and is finally cleaned up from his attack.

Remi is doing so much better.  He is finally starting to put weight on his leg and  is using it to walk with.  He will be leaving the surgical facility tomorrow.

Remi has been placed in a wonderful home and is doing great.
