Our sweet boy is finally beginning to feel better. He still has a long way to go with his Chemotherapy. As you can see from the picture, he still has swelling in his neck. The swelling appears to be a gelatinous type of edema. Each week the edema goes down a little bit more. Spencer's Oncologist has him on a weekly chemotherapy dose for the next three months. We have had him on chemotherapy since he was first admitted to ICU. So far he is tolerating his treatments well but is still being closely monitored for any signs that the swelling is coming back. We are still in a red alert mode after how close he came to dying. Spencer is out of the hospital as an Out-Patient. He has tests done each week to monitor all of his organs to make sure he is tolerating the drugs and they are not causing any damage to his kidneys or liver. We are taking every precaution possible to protect his organs. He is also getting IV fluids during his chemotherapy session. Spencer is the sweetest dog and loves all the attention he is getting. We are still taking donations to cover his week long ICU visit that saved his life and for his Chemotherapy. We are hopeful with all we are doing, we can give Spencer three more years filled with lots and lots of love and joy. This is one dog that sure does deserve a break. Thanks for caring and sharing his story of survival.
