GREENVILLE, SC........Adorable STELLA is only six weeks old and has already experienced how cruel life can be as a puppy in the hands of someone that has no value for life. She was picked up as a stray and brought to Greenville County Animal Control. She had blood running out of her nose and her jaw was broken in two places that go all the way into her sinus cavity. The shelter originally thought she had been hit by a car. After she was evaluated by a surgeon and veterinarian, they have determined someone intentionally did this to STELLA. We don’t believe she was kicked because she is so tiny that her body would have other injuries. It appears someone took an object and hit her with it very hard to do this much damage. We will never know the real story but what we do know is that this should have never happened. Stella is a chocolate lab mix puppy that is so cute and adorable and so innocent. How anyone could hurt a bundle of joy like this is beyond me. Her face and jaw is very swollen and her breathing is very labored because of the damage done to her sinus area. She had her first surgery on Friday and will have several more small surgeries to change out the wires in her mouth to allow for her jaw to expand as she grows. She is a typical puppy that wants nothing more than to be held and to cuddle into you neck and stay there all day. She will be going in and out of the hospital to make sure she gets the nurturing she needs right now since she is so young. Her foster Mom is spending a lot of time building up her confidence so she will not shy away from people after what has happened to her. Nurturing the animals we take in is a big part of the rescue process. Surgery and rehab is critical to their health but the nurturing is what makes them well socialized and adoptable into a loving family.
Stella is doing incredible. She had surgery to repair her upper and lower jaw and has been wonderful since one day after the operation. She is eating, drinking and chewing on your fingers just like a regular cute adorable little puppy. She will have to have several small surgeries to adjust the wires to allow her jaw to grow normally but other than that she is healing beautifully. You would never in a million years know anything bad ever happened to Stella because her life seems so normal for her now. We are working on house training and so far she is doing great. She will be with us for another four weeks while she is recovering. She looks like a little bear with all of her fluffy brown fur. She will make a wonderful companion for any family lucky enough to adopt her. If you are interested, please, fill out our Adoption Application below. Thanks for caring and helping us with this beautiful little girl.
