Look how incredible each one of the Simpson's looks. They survived severe neglect we believe from a back-yard breeder. The final blow was when they all got Parvo. That blow was the hardest to over-come. There were weeks when it was touch and go every hour of the day. When we would get one pup well from the Parvo, another one would break with it. During all of this, we were still having to deal with their skin issues. These tiny little pups have given me many a grey hair. Every day was a new crisis and a new hard decision to make. I am so glad the final decision at the end of the day was always to do whatever it takes to save them. We do not take in animals to have them suffer. We take in animals that no one else steps up for. We believe in our hearts, we can turn their life around and end their suffering. There is always the risk things will not work out the way you wanted it to. When new rescues ask me what the most important aspect they should know about rescuing an animal is, I always have the same response. Never take in more animals than you can personally take care of. Quality of Life for the ones you rescue has to always be your top priority. That means being able to give the animal the best medical care possible and being prepared to take on the financial burden. If it means you can only save one animal, then only save one. Quality of Life is our number one priority and is also the reason why I have to watch how many animals I take in. I get notes all day long from people upset because I can't take their dog. I wish I could take them all but the fact is, I will not ever take an animal in if it takes away from the medical needs of another animal. The Simpson's are a great story of survival and all that could go wrong. I am so thankful I was able to take them in and more thankful for YOU, their Guardian Angels. Thank-you for always being there for the Abused Animals we step up for. We are forever grateful.
