Our sweet little Angel is taking baby steps in her recovery. She has been moved out of ICU and into a regular hospital. For the longest time, she has taken two steps forward and two steps back. Her improvements have been so guarded that we have not been sure what the next day will bring. She has now started making tiny baby steps and is slowing improving. Her liver values are improving but will always be an issue since she has such terrible liver damage. Living on the streets for as long as she did with no one taking her in has destroyed her liver. We have her on a very good holistic protocol that was designed just for her to enable her liver to start working better. Everything we do for her is geared toward restoring her liver function. The rest of her bloodwork is showing dramatic improvement but still has a ways to go. The biggest problem we have is getting her strong enough physically so she feels better mentally.
We are guessing her age based on her physically. We now believe she is closer to 8 years old. If we went by the way she acts and feels, it would be closer to about 15. She is a very laid back little Angel that asks nothing of you but a pat on the head or a warm place to lay in your lap. Each day, we come up with more ways to bring her out of her shell. She has made a lot of improvement since we first got her but she still has a long way to go.
I have decided that she can't be adopted out any further than an hour from me in Okatie, SC. I want her to have a very special Family all her own but I need her to be close enough to get her to her Specialists in Charleston, SC. or Columbia, SC. If she is in or near those areas it is fine but she cannot be further than an hour from me so I can make sure if anything happens, we can get her the care she needs. I am sorry for anyone that wanted to adopt her that is further away but for now that is how it has to be for Tulip. Each animal is special and unique with their very own set of circumstances. Tulip's liver problem doesn't mean she can't be adopted, it just means she has to be closely monitored. All of her bills and medical care will still be picked up by Noah's Arks Rescue. If you think your Family has room for the most amazing little Angel, please fill out our Adoption Application. Tulip also gets along great with cats. She sleeps in a bed next to a cat now at the hospital without any issues. I really think the cat is more bothered by her lack of interest that anything else. Tulip is also fine with dogs.
We just got back her DNA Test Results. Tulip is a Parson Russell Mix.
